*BREAK!

Oh it's nice to be home and sleep in (and stay up late too ;-) ). I've already baked some coffee toffee bars. You all know what those look like. I've also been knitting away and finished Christmas gifts just in the nick of time. I'm working on my friend Nicole's socks now. They are toe up and are a little difficult at the heel part right now. But once I'm past that it will be smooth sailing.

Still no digital camera, so I will take pictures once I get to Best Buy and buy one. I so want to take a picture of my NEW beautiful YARN BOWL! I have a knitting bowl- it's so cool. It holds my yarn while I work on a project and I just love it. My mommy got it for me for Christmas and a matching mug :)

Now with a stupid little sore throat I had on Christmas, I have been drinking the tea away. Glad I got some nice flavors for while I am home :). Going to keep drinking that as I make some more baked goods. SUGAR COOKIES! I'm actually excited because I haven't made these before, at least not from scratch. I will be making my favorite though tomorrow night, the raspberry crumb cake, OMG YUM! Haha- stay tuned and hope to put up pictures soon!

Procrastination

This is my favorite time to blog, or the time I most frequently blog.

It's finals week. I need to do my papers and study and I just don't want to. A person can only do so many all nighters and actually focus! Power naps are a different breed and when you are already running low on sleep, it just doesn't work.

Where is that easy button? Where did all the time go? Why are movies so addicting? Why are none of my usual tricks to get things done working? It's frustrating.

As I yawn, I go back to that work. I look forward to baking sweets and snuggling my cat over break. Oh yeah, and knitting :)

November Break

Oh hey everyone. I love getting a full week off for Thanksgiving, but oh my gosh the amount of homework I have to catch up on. It's not even a break if I have that homework to get done. So I've been focusing on not focusing for the first few days, and now I really need to get my a$$ into gear and get this $hit done.

BUT what I did before hand is pretty sweet ;-)

I am a blondie again. I mean I have always considered myself a dirty blonde but now I'm pretty much a blondie. :) Haha, I like it =)

Well I'm distracting myself currently by my blog and laundry. I always try to focus when I'm doing laundry though. I find laundry relaxing. A lot of people hate to do laundry, but I so don't mind. I love it and having everything clean. Call me nuts, go ahead, but it's how I am ;-)

Maybe I'll squeeze some more knitting in between all my distractions and what not.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

October

I feel so bad I don't blog as often as I'd love too. It's this damn thing called homework. There are so many chapters to read and things to site and read and site and read and read and oh my gosh thank goodness for classical music and score music or I'd just fall asleep the entire time.

I love reading, don't get me wrong. I've probably been over this before, I love to read, on my own. But when I'm forced to read (or highly encouraged) I just don't enjoy it as much. I also just want to knit lately. . . You get very addicted, and I'm sure all knitters can agree the "one more row" syndrome is hard to shake off. I just want to knit! I want to be able to write a paper and knit at the same time. I have so many projects I want to do for Christmas gifts but it's impossible with all this homework. I want breaks so that I can knit, but I'm being such a procrastinator that I'll probably have to use those breaks to focus on papers and homework/big final projects. It's so annoying to have to schedule time to knit, but thank goodness for the knitting club I created. I can knit with all my friends! It's very fun to share such a great hobby :)

Ok, I went shopping this weekend and got some beautiful yarn. Soon to be gorgeous projects.

Back to homework :-P

Be back soon I hope-

Downtown Swing

Oh I love it down here. I'm still having problems accepting that I have homework to do and can't knit all day long, haha. Due dates are the only thing that get me going. I'm such a procrastinator it's horrible. I have friends that procrastinate as well, I like to think of ourselves as professional procrastinators. I'm actually supposed to be doing homework now, but I'm blogging. Who doesn't love a good blog?

I'd also like this time to show you my gorgeous flowers :)

&&& as another side note, that I don't need a guy to get me flowers. I get my flowers all on my own. I work hard, I like flowers, I am going to buy myself some flowers. I also have no problem with my residents buying me flowers if they so choose to do so (I really like flowers residents! Haha- you said you'd get me some!).

I also have finished a hat in my procrastination. I'm calling it my Baby Moss Stitch Hat (but it can totally be altered to fit a larger head, according to gauge and size of the person that will be wearing it.)

Here's the pattern:
I used size 5 dpns and 2 skeins of yarn (double threaded/2 colors)
CO 80 sts
*K2,P2 for two rows,
P2,K2 for two rows*
Repeat these four rows until the piece measures about 4 1/2 inches to 4 3/4 inches (or however long you want it to be, maybe you want a fold so go longer for that)
the decreases;
(I started my decreases in the P2,K2 row, so try to end right before that if you want to follow these decreases)
*P2,K2,P2,K2,P2tog,K2,P2,K2,P2,K2tog*
Knit a round (in pattern)
*K2,P2,K2,P2tog,K1,P2,K2,P2,K2tog,P1*
Knit a round (in pattern)
*P2,K2,P2tog,K1,P1,K2,P2,Ktog,P1,K1*
Knit a round (in pattern)
*K2,P2tog,continue in pattern, P2,K2tog, continue in pattern*
Knit a round (in pattern)
{I hope you have the pattern here, the sequence of using the double moss stitching}
*P2tog,continue in pattern, K2tog,continue in patter*
K a row of pattern (should be single moss stitch)
*K2,P1,switchstitches to P2tog*
Knit a row of pattern
*P2,K2tog*
Knit a row of pattern
*K2tog,P1*
Knit a round of pattern
*P2,K2tog*
K2tog, P1
thread through.
sew up the seems!

I'm really proud of myself for coming up with these decreases, but if you have any trouble, please let me know!

Now instead of knitting (which I so want to do right now), I must continue to do homework and get back into the swing of things. Until next time,

<3 Carly

Downtown Heating UP!

Oh my gosh has it been a hot first week! LOVE living down here, but the building I live in DOES NOT have air conditioning. I love my little city room, but oh my gosh has it been hot. I truly have no idea how I fell asleep some nights. I woke up sweating, took a shower, then started to sweat again- haha. This is how you live until it's cold and then you just get to wear warm knits and snuggle (I CAN'T WAIT!).

I finished yet another project :) The little booties that got it all started. I forget if I mentioned that I made more booties for girls at my work. They're a hot item. OH and I just remembered I got another order from someone at school when I was sewing in the loose ends on these. LOOK HOW CUTE!

Adding ruffles definitely makes these a selling point. They're soo cute already and just putting that ruffle on makes it the cutest thing for girls. The order I got from here at school is for a boy so I'm thinking back to the original pattern, just plain and simply adorable.

1st week back at school (besides my melting room), was good. I like to wait a week or two before I really know what a semester is going to be like but I like it so far. Lots of books though. They totally killed my wallet with the books. EVERY class had to have the book. It's insane! I spent $640 on books, then my one professor is actually letting me use his text book from a previous edition so if I would've spent more on that it would've probably been closer to actually spending $800. THAT'S TOO MUCH! Can we please remind textbook companies that they sell their textbooks to poor college students? I'm not made of money to spend solely on textbooks. I like food!

Food brings me to Rib Fest. OH my gosh so good. I was waiting all weekend for it :) Got to go with my good friend Danielle. I tweeted a picture if you want to check it out ;-)

http://twitpic.com/6gnlri

Well I guess I should get some homework done. It's still weird getting back in the swing of things. Summer classes totally aren't the same and I will never do that again (remind me not to do that again).

Back Downtown Junior Yr

You forget how beautiful the city is, but not really. I've missed my little room in the city on my own. It's really home. I'm now going into my junior year at Point Park and that means that for 2 years I've lived 9 out of the 12 months in one year, so 18 out of 24 months downtown. I'm truly a city girl. It's what drew me into my school anyway (my home).

I'm not good at writing (or spelling for that matter; thank god for the red squiggles that tell me I'm wrong on this), but I like to just write what I'm feeling at the moment. I'm in love with the city living and my friends down here at the same time. Not all of them are down here but I love being able to share this with them when they visit me. It's the best feeling the city living, I can't say how many times I love it. The sides are probably endless but this city is gorgeous. $0.25 for 5 minutes in a meter ($3.00 for an hour- 8am to 10pm they watch the meters now. $42 for the whole day or suck it up and pay that $30 ticket). Everything at your fingertips, the coffee shops, the food, the places to just relax and the architecture.

I love Pittsburgh.

Now I'll show you some knitting that you've been waiting to see.

This baby blanket was a great summer project. The yarn was exquisite, the pattern was simple and easy to remember (I hate carrying around a pattern book and papers, even though I know I need to at times).

This lovely baby girl came EARLY! I so could've finished in time, but she totally wanted to come out a week early.

I got a bunch of yarn from Bloomin's when I just couldn't stop going and knitting. It's definitely the best store out there. I've been to others now so I can say this. There's no other shop that gives the same vibe and openness.

I finished my first sweater. I need to blog this. The picture is going to be bad. I want to be in it when I show it off. I can't WAIT for the day that someone asks me where I got it and I can say "I made it". I just can't wait!

Now still in training so I'll be back to update later.

Summer & needing a catch up day.

There has been so much that has happened since summer has started.

I was dumped because another girl was more tempting.
{I have to make this correction. He had another girlfriend, yet she doesn't want to be his girlfriend. Asshole is how we can put this in politically correct terms.}

I made a baby blanket because of this blog and showing it off at places.

I'm currently on my first sweater.

I'm blonder and have a feather in my hair.

When I shop, I shop hard.

Nail polish.

Summer classes.

Our oven was broken for about a month (thank GOD it is fixed now).

I'm a little damaged.

I miss my friends.

And I almost bought a car.

I need to post pictures of all my adventures and show off my new purchases for yarn and what not. I must first work on finishing up my summer classes. I'm almost done. I always find myself blogging when I am supposed to be doing something else, but it's a good way to get it all out. I forget how good it feels to document something. Not only with a picture but explaining, if for no one other than myself what I felt for that time or thought for the moment.

I could touch on all of it now, but I'll be good and get back to you by Thursday the latest. I want to post pictures of all the things I've baked, my shopping sprees and even my WIPs and finished projects.

Until then, stay in AC and enjoy the rain ;-)

It's a GIRL!

I finished the hat, RIGHT as I got the text informing me that she had a GIRL!!! :)

I got wind that she was in labor and I was already working on the hat, but I went into SPEEDY GONZOLAS mode once I found out she was at the hospital IN LABOR!

But my gifts are all finished for the new baby girl (if it was a boy, it would've been the best Easter gear- haha) & here they are!!

They're so tiny! Haha-

Can't wait to see the baby :)

Happy Friday everyone!!!

CATCH UP!

I'm so sorry I've been keeping you all in the dark. I MUST share with you what I've been up to!!!

1. There are too many papers assigned the last month of classes. It truly is just wrong. I think the teachers are just asking for the trouble too- they are the ones that have to grade all these papers! If I were a teacher, I wouldn't want to grade a bunch of papers the last week of classes and grades due in a week. Talk about procrastination. :-P This is why I don't have time to blog... But apparently time for knitting... No judging please.

2. Other things need to be done around here to get things ready to move out by May 8th, which is Mother's Day, which I will be working-- SORRY MOM!!! LOVE YOU!!! && it will all become hectic very soon I'm sure.

3. LET GET TO THE KNITTING!!! :)

I finished my Sleepwalker Socks- YAY!!!

As I was watching The Hills-- another distraction, oh my---

I tried to get a good *SUN* picture, but it was cloudy... Here's my try anyway- haha

You can go see more on RAVELRY if you want ;-)

NOW I have already started and finished another project. Yup- I'm that quick-
One of my friends at work is having a baby MONDAY! It's her due date, so really any day, but I'll be seeing her husband Sunday at work. I'll be gifting the set then, but this is what I have so far---

AREN'T THEY CUTE?! They do NOT know the sex of the baby, so this is the best unisex color I could do. I'm also planning to do a little hat with it. I have so much extra yarn that I might as well use it! Again, you can see more on Ravelry if you so please to do.

They're so tiny, yet people have told me they look a little big! Crazy craziness.

Well, back to homework and knitting ;-)

BIRTHDAY & SUCH

I've had such a great day! Honestly, I loved my birthday-

It was a nice and easy- classes were smooth, the day was beautiful out, everyone I ran into just made me feel so special wishing me happy birthday on their way to classes and hugging me, just such a great feeling! <3 :)

I got flowers too! Some from my mommy, some before and for my birthday from a very special guy ;-) xoxo

Then my before flowers--

&&& My beautifully smelling LANVADER roses that I just can't stop SMELLING!!!!

I LOVE having flowers all over my room :) They smell so pretty and just make my room feel more homey :)

Thank you both mommy & special man for my flowers and brightening my day ;-) xoxo

I also have CAKE! Which is now all gone-- hehe- but here it is right before it was ALL eaten--

It's been the same kind of cake for years! I just love having my Funfetti cake and ice cream (it might be gross to some, but I seriously MASH it all up together-- haha- it's better that way!).

Lastly I must put an update of my sock-- I've knitted a few more rows after this picture but I'm so close to the heel flap I CAN FEEL IT!!

Can't wait to wear this pair! They're just too cute :)

Until next time <3 Carly

P.S. My Knitting & Crochet Craft Club here at Point Park University, HAS BEEN APPROVED!! IT'S COMPLETELY OFFICIAL!!! =)

SPRING!

I'm very excited that SPRING is finally showing it's true self :) It's all warm and sunny and then I see that it's raining over on the West Coast. I know we're bound to get that, but that's ok, because I'm looking forward to a great thunder storm. I really can't take this jack hammering anymore. It's right out my window.... MAKE IT STOP!!! I know Point Park wants a new park, green up the campus and have it all done by Fall 2011, but I can't take it anymore!

On the up side, I finished my 1st sock of the Sleepwalker pair <3

I showed it to my history teacher (I would knit before he started class and he commented on it a few times. Knitting being a dying art and all-) and he asked me if I had a bundle of joy on the way.... No sir, just because I knit doesn't mean I'm pregnant. Also, what I'm really curious is that does a sock made for a woman's 8 really look like it's for a baby? I hate all these assumptions made by people. So I'm going to list some things about why I knit: I knit because I enjoy it. I enjoy making something for myself & others. Just because I knit does not mean I'm 70 years old. Just as well, knitting does not mean I'm pregnant. The skills acquired from knitting help me with math, patients and hand eye coordination.

{These next few I've said before..} Those holes are eyelets. My sock or knitted item will not fall apart when I wear it because those are bigger holes than others. Yes I do wear these. I will make another. I do have multiple projects at once, but I tend to knit ONE thing at a time in my hands. I can't knit both socks at the same time (yes there are ways to do this, but I like making one sock at a time right now thank you very much). I'd also like to ask a question to the non-knitters out there; Why do you ask these things? Do I ask you why you're drinking coffee instead of tea? Or why you go on facebook all day long? Do I ask you if your pregnant because you're drinking milk all the time? I don't appreciate these assumptions, and I'm sure that you don't like the assumptions I would make of you

Anyway- maybe it's because I'm still young and they expect me to have a hobble and wrinkles while I knit. There are PLENTY of us without wrinkles that knit. I'll continue to complain about this on later occasions. Until then- please let others know that assumptions are rude.

NEXT on the knitting front. I've started my 2nd Sleepwalker sock and I'm also considering a Lacy Scarf :) It's from a book I just got and I seriously want to make EVERYTHING in it! Haha-

Side note... I take pictures while I Blog or after I've typed everything. My camera has rechargable batteries and they die A LOT. Not in the sense that I use them all the time, I do, but I feel like every 2 times I turn my camera on, they're already dead. I must look into a new camera because I'm not liking all these charges not working. I just tried to use my camera for my socks and it was the first time I put them in after charging them (still in the charger-- but not the outlet anymore) and it flashed low battery after the 1st picture, turned off after the 3rd... Problem there. ALL fixed now.. Haha--

Stay tuned for the Lacy Scarf and progress on sock 2 ;-)

Break- fasttt

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. But when I was little I really couldn't say breakfast, it came our more of break fast. I separated the word for some reason. BUT this isn't even relating to the post title, just a fun little fact to get you started. Basically I just had Spring Break and it seriously flew by. I was on duty for my CF job Monday & Tuesday, and was super lazy those days- got a little homework done though :)

ANYWAY- this break went by way too fast. I did a good amount of baking even with having to work almost everyday of break.

First I made brownies :) They are called "Brownies for a Crowd" and are supposed to have nuts in them, but I have a very picky guy that doesn't like nuts in his baked goods so I was nice and didn't put them in. I put more chocolate chips in instead =)

They were definitely a hit. My mom couldn't get enough of them- haha. I put my own twist on them as well. They called for so much chocolate syrup that I wanted to use the cocoa to see a mix of chocolates- mixing with the chocolate chips (mini semi-sweet morsels and white chocolate chips).

I was also working on the Homesick Scarf I am making for my man's sister. She misses Pittsburgh so much and honestly who wouldn't? We live in an awesome city =) . I wanted to get more of the frilly purple, but I might have to frog it back and just make it thinner. There wasn't anymore of the yarn at the store I got it from.... Problem!

It's super cute and I totally want one. But with the purple now being available it kinda puts this aside because I don't want to frog the whole thing and I don't want to fail at finding another skein. Finding another skein would be great but also a hassle because I want her to get the scarf soon. It's only going to be cold so much longer.

I then made some cookies over break! :) My friends wanted some sweets when we got back. These are my favorites- the "Kitchen Sink Cookies". If you are allergic to nuts, you should stay far far away.

With 18 oz of chocolate chips, 4 oz pecan halves, 4 oz walnut halves, & 4 oz of almond slivers- these babies are AWESOME!

Not to mention the batter has the brown sugar as the main sugar- that's my favorite way to go. I like the toffee like quality it adds to the cookies. I want to try it in brownies, or blondies because it's my favorite thing about cookies is brown sugar. The way brown sugar bakes just makes me drool!!!!!

Oh, and then I worked on my pretty "Sleepwalker Socks" over break :) Working on the heel flap currently-

I don't like the way that the flash on my camera alters the look of the yarn. It's very disappointing, but the sock is coming along swimmingly! :)

Surprisingly enough I didn't take ANY pictures of Ms. Pudge, but Mittens got some photos done ;-)

He was kind of sleeping, but he's a cutie nonetheless. Our old man with diabetes- <3

I'll try to keep you all updated on the search of yarn and my Kitchen Sink cookies are going fast! Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather? It's supposedly getting warmer-- haha ;-)

I'm going to be busy back at school working on classes and what not. Until then-

<3 Carly

Laundry, Socks & Tea OH MY!

Sunday is my LAUNDRY DAY right now. I didn't realize how much laundry I had until my closet door wouldn't close and I ran out of towels... Hahaha-- yeahhh I waited that long.

Well, I know I haven't posted in a few days but I've been having socks on the brain. It's quite addicting once you finish a pair. Didn't realize at first, but now I know. They're so comfy, they're for yourself, and if you decide to give a pair, whoever will receive them better love them or else! Hahaha-

I wasn't sure if I had the right gauge for these *Sleepwalker Socks*, but I do =)

They are coming along just SWIMMINGLY!! But I get the same questions over and over again, "Oh are you making baby booties?" "Those are so small, what are they for?" . People. I am making a sock. Yes, they start off small, but eventually they will fit my feet. I can see you questioning that as well- "Are you sure they'll fit you?" I really want to answer no. No, they're not going to fit me, I'm making them for laughs, or to hang on my wall. Why would I wear them? They might fall apart. PEOPLE LISTEN! We knitters knit to enjoy the knitted things we make. We also give them away to let others know we love them enough to give these knitted items away. We love yarn, we wouldn't knit it wrong {and if we do, we frog, be sad and redo}.

That was my little rant for the crazies that are wondering all these things... Ugh--

BUT I am also trying to knit my Steelers Socks. I want to do them toe-up (might have mentioned this before), and this is the attempt I am doing.

I want to be able to use all the yarn so that these will be comfy cozy and VERY warm. I'm not sure if I should continue following this video that teaches me a toe-up previsional cast-on but then I have patterns in my book that could also work. I also need more needles because splitting 5 needles up between 2 socks isn't working out so well... Haha---

&& then here are my flowers... Aren't they gorgeous. After a week they still look good =) very sweet my friendly man is.

Now I must go back to my tea and laundry. Time to switch it into the dryers :)
Until next time! <3 Carly

AHH-- it's almost March- QUESTION!

My mommy doesn't think it's a great idea, but I know you knitters do.

The Rockin' Sock Club

What do you think? I am getting more into socks, but have really only made 2 pairs. My mother says this is a bad idea because I like to touch, feel & smell the yarn- yes smell ;-) . This club sends you 6 packages with hand-dyed yarn and 2 special patterns that aren't even out yet. It's pretty exclusive & I like the packages idea. Also, I would be signing up a little late, does that mean I miss out on packages or will those be sent?

I definitely love the idea, but with my inexperience, yet experience with passion, what do you all think?

I'd ask Pudge, but she's at home being all Queeny-

Sunday Scramble

Sunday's are the usual homework catch-up/ hurry up and do it all day.

My plan for the day was to have brunch, work on a paper, go to the PAAR photo shoot, paper/exam studying and then some dinner and homework and meeting then grocery shopping.

Brunch went as planned, and I finished my cowl before hand! But took photos afterward ;-)

I got a poster from the Oscar's Best Picture Event I went to yesterday,,, which I will explain shortly, but it was a good thing to use backwards and have as a great background :)

It's sooo much better than the first one. A thicker, better sized cowl.

I got a lot of knitting done at this Oscar's Best Picture Event- In between each picture I would do a row or two :)
This Oscar's Event was down at the Lowes Waterfront. They did it for two Saturday's (but we thought there was going to be a 24 hr event... ) and we got to go to this one!

As you know, I'm a CF here at PPU and we got to take some residents to this lovely event! Campus Life made it so that we could go for a better price(which was super helpful).

This is me and my friend Danielle during our dinner break! In between Inception and The Social Network we got to run to Starbucks and Panera. We really needed that Starbucks- we both tried taking naps in Inception (Inception is basically our favorite- but because we've seen it so many time- it was the only movie we COULD nap during).

ANYWAYS- the movies were the following;
11 am Winter's Bone
1 pm Black Swan
3:10 pm Inception
6:45 pm The Social Network
9 pm The King's Speech

It was a tough day, I had no idea how much movie watching drains you! TOTALLY worth it though. I plan on doing this again next year- and actually watching all 10 haha--

Now I deal with the dragging of trying to do homework-- wanting to start my pair of socks, but needing different needles... Looks like it's a scarf next on the agenda of the knit world. My Sunday Scramble is me wanting to nap, but having to get this paper done, but also wanting to knit and watch Gilmore Girls. OHH the complications... It's basically almost Spring Break and I'm lagging no matter what-- let's get this week done!

Til next time ;-) <3

Yummy Yarn, Delicious Dogs, & Comfy Cowl

*Yummy Yarn*
I forgot to tell you, I GOT MORE YARN!!! Hahaha-- I need another storage thing to keep all my yarn here. Also want my needles from home... This dorm room is getting smaller and smaller... LOVE IT, but with yarn and clothes--- it's small.

Those purple skeins were originally 7.95-- 40% off!! I LOVE SALE SECTIONS!!! Hahahaha--- all this yarn was on sale. My mom even has a skein I got and I thought of making something for her with it, but she wanted to crochet with it- ;-) yay! But how's my blanket coming along....?
The pinks are just so yummy I couldn't say no.
Then the blue ones, the think chunky looking ones-- I want a gorgeous long scarf {this is the needles I need from home-- haha}
The light blue that is thinner I think a hat would be nice? Still contemplating...

*Delicious Dog*
NEXT, I finally took some pictures of Franktuary. Addie & I go every Tuesday {or at least try to}, and Finally got to take some pictures of the frankfuled place.

The lovely "Frankly Mona Lisa"

Addie about to enjoy her gummy dog after enjoying a frank topped with jalapenos and onions and mustard-- sooo predictable ;-)

Then here are the other tables-- My mother thinks we just eat at the counter... Actually I don't know what she thinks we eat in-- She needs to go. You totally need to go!!!!!!

*Comfy Cowl*

This is coming along SOOO much better than the first time around. I think I probably knit it faster the first time, but still coming along quickly.

Now along with my knitting, I have homework. This week was long! So many assignments and I was actually on top of it all. Or at least tried to be. My only down fall was yesterday when I woke up at 9:36 AM when I have 9:40 AM class. I got there about 10 AM. Not bad for waking up, getting dressed, looking good and running to West Penn! The floor also planned their game night and that was a lot of fun, but when we went shopping for prizes the day before I got this!

This tiny planters pot is hosting seeds for a rose. I'm not sure how long it will take for this rose to grow, but I'm curious to see if this will work. I do get a lot of sun light from this window spot- but waiting for progress of any greenery.

Now because of the cowl moving so fast and me itching to do my new sock pattern, hope to see some new pictures of another project on needles soon.

Stay tuned!

<3 Carly :)

Love'n the Cold* After the Hate'n Cold

Being sick just stunk! I'm still dealing with an after cough but it's totally better than what I had-

&&& I can show you my COWL! Yes, a cowl. Not a cow, not a col- a cowl. For you non-knitting people, it is a loose circle scarf to say it best. It's supposed to be a loose turtleneck collar but that's why it is a cowl, it's the only part- no sweater.

Here is my 1st attempt at it-- in progress.

{I was wearing a cute outfit that day ;-)} but my cowl no longer looks like this.... It was too big a circle for the small skein I have.... So I ripped it back, everything. I even casted off the first one (I had it on size 8, 16'' circ's) because I wanted to see how it turned out--- I could tell it wasn't the width I wanted it to be, and I can't go get another skein from Bloomin's because I'm downtown for 1 and I bought the last one-- in this colorway at least.

SO here's attempt 2;

I like my pattern idea a lot better for this one and I took 40-50 stitches out of the equation. Hopefully this will be enough, but I will rip back again if I don't like it. I've done it once, I'll do it again! :/ ... haha-- it's really nice to knit with so it's not so bad, but it is rather sad that I thought I had another finished project when it's just another start over... I do love this color though-- it knits up GORGEOUS! {a perk of seeing the whole skein knit already ;-) hahaha}

Next up, *SNOW*

Look at it out there!!!

Anyway, it's gorgeous if you're not catching on! Hahaha--- it's beautiful <3

I'm hoping it keeps coming down like this. I'd love to explore all day long downtown with lots and lots of snow everywhere :)
Until that decision, I'm going back to my homework-- trying to finish it early :) hahaha---

A little run down...

Being sick just STINKS!

I am congested, I sound different and coughing just hurts. I hate taking medicine and being lazy is only fun for so long.

I'm going to catch you up on all you missed over the weekend though--

I finished part one of my secret project....

TA DA!!!!
I am making my mother the same pair of fingerless gloves I have for myself. It is her Valentine's Day gift and I had to show her (also wanted to make sure they fit-- as well as see how happy she was that her pair is being made ;-) )!

She's very excited about them :D

BUTTTT before I finished it, I had to frog.... :(

I realized that I had been reading the pattern wrong and although it didn't look bad,,, I had to rip it out. Sucks, but I really finished it quickly for frogging the entire pattern part.

I was also knitting at the ballet with my good friend Addie to try and get it done! Hahah--

We saw DRACULA as you can see and it was pretty sweet. I was confused the first act, loved the second act, and completely surprised the 3rd act. There were FIREWORKS! The costumes were by far the best I've seen and Addie was in LOVE with the blood and ballet combined.

It was our date night (Friday) because I have season tickets to the ballet ;-)

Hhaha---
Well, it's back to tv watching and fluid drinking for me. I hate nasal drip... If you know what it is, you'll know how much hate needs to be emphasized.

P.S. I got pink roses for Valentine's Day ;-)

&&& A resident made me a rice krispy treat in the shape of heart &&& it was PINK! <3

Then here is my progress of glove 2. Moving slower because of this ickly fever/coughing/sweating bit. :-P
