BIRTHDAY & SUCH

I've had such a great day! Honestly, I loved my birthday-

It was a nice and easy- classes were smooth, the day was beautiful out, everyone I ran into just made me feel so special wishing me happy birthday on their way to classes and hugging me, just such a great feeling! <3 :)

I got flowers too! Some from my mommy, some before and for my birthday from a very special guy ;-) xoxo

Then my before flowers--

&&& My beautifully smelling LANVADER roses that I just can't stop SMELLING!!!!

I LOVE having flowers all over my room :) They smell so pretty and just make my room feel more homey :)

Thank you both mommy & special man for my flowers and brightening my day ;-) xoxo

I also have CAKE! Which is now all gone-- hehe- but here it is right before it was ALL eaten--

It's been the same kind of cake for years! I just love having my Funfetti cake and ice cream (it might be gross to some, but I seriously MASH it all up together-- haha- it's better that way!).

Lastly I must put an update of my sock-- I've knitted a few more rows after this picture but I'm so close to the heel flap I CAN FEEL IT!!

Can't wait to wear this pair! They're just too cute :)

Until next time <3 Carly

SPRING!

I'm very excited that SPRING is finally showing it's true self :) It's all warm and sunny and then I see that it's raining over on the West Coast. I know we're bound to get that, but that's ok, because I'm looking forward to a great thunder storm. I really can't take this jack hammering anymore. It's right out my window.... MAKE IT STOP!!! I know Point Park wants a new park, green up the campus and have it all done by Fall 2011, but I can't take it anymore!

On the up side, I finished my 1st sock of the Sleepwalker pair <3

I showed it to my history teacher (I would knit before he started class and he commented on it a few times. Knitting being a dying art and all-) and he asked me if I had a bundle of joy on the way.... No sir, just because I knit doesn't mean I'm pregnant. Also, what I'm really curious is that does a sock made for a woman's 8 really look like it's for a baby? I hate all these assumptions made by people. So I'm going to list some things about why I knit: I knit because I enjoy it. I enjoy making something for myself & others. Just because I knit does not mean I'm 70 years old. Just as well, knitting does not mean I'm pregnant. The skills acquired from knitting help me with math, patients and hand eye coordination.

{These next few I've said before..} Those holes are eyelets. My sock or knitted item will not fall apart when I wear it because those are bigger holes than others. Yes I do wear these. I will make another. I do have multiple projects at once, but I tend to knit ONE thing at a time in my hands. I can't knit both socks at the same time (yes there are ways to do this, but I like making one sock at a time right now thank you very much). I'd also like to ask a question to the non-knitters out there; Why do you ask these things? Do I ask you why you're drinking coffee instead of tea? Or why you go on facebook all day long? Do I ask you if your pregnant because you're drinking milk all the time? I don't appreciate these assumptions, and I'm sure that you don't like the assumptions I would make of you

Anyway- maybe it's because I'm still young and they expect me to have a hobble and wrinkles while I knit. There are PLENTY of us without wrinkles that knit. I'll continue to complain about this on later occasions. Until then- please let others know that assumptions are rude.

NEXT on the knitting front. I've started my 2nd Sleepwalker sock and I'm also considering a Lacy Scarf :) It's from a book I just got and I seriously want to make EVERYTHING in it! Haha-

Side note... I take pictures while I Blog or after I've typed everything. My camera has rechargable batteries and they die A LOT. Not in the sense that I use them all the time, I do, but I feel like every 2 times I turn my camera on, they're already dead. I must look into a new camera because I'm not liking all these charges not working. I just tried to use my camera for my socks and it was the first time I put them in after charging them (still in the charger-- but not the outlet anymore) and it flashed low battery after the 1st picture, turned off after the 3rd... Problem there. ALL fixed now.. Haha--

Stay tuned for the Lacy Scarf and progress on sock 2 ;-)

Break- fasttt

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. But when I was little I really couldn't say breakfast, it came our more of break fast. I separated the word for some reason. BUT this isn't even relating to the post title, just a fun little fact to get you started. Basically I just had Spring Break and it seriously flew by. I was on duty for my CF job Monday & Tuesday, and was super lazy those days- got a little homework done though :)

ANYWAY- this break went by way too fast. I did a good amount of baking even with having to work almost everyday of break.

First I made brownies :) They are called "Brownies for a Crowd" and are supposed to have nuts in them, but I have a very picky guy that doesn't like nuts in his baked goods so I was nice and didn't put them in. I put more chocolate chips in instead =)

They were definitely a hit. My mom couldn't get enough of them- haha. I put my own twist on them as well. They called for so much chocolate syrup that I wanted to use the cocoa to see a mix of chocolates- mixing with the chocolate chips (mini semi-sweet morsels and white chocolate chips).

I was also working on the Homesick Scarf I am making for my man's sister. She misses Pittsburgh so much and honestly who wouldn't? We live in an awesome city =) . I wanted to get more of the frilly purple, but I might have to frog it back and just make it thinner. There wasn't anymore of the yarn at the store I got it from.... Problem!

It's super cute and I totally want one. But with the purple now being available it kinda puts this aside because I don't want to frog the whole thing and I don't want to fail at finding another skein. Finding another skein would be great but also a hassle because I want her to get the scarf soon. It's only going to be cold so much longer.

I then made some cookies over break! :) My friends wanted some sweets when we got back. These are my favorites- the "Kitchen Sink Cookies". If you are allergic to nuts, you should stay far far away.

With 18 oz of chocolate chips, 4 oz pecan halves, 4 oz walnut halves, & 4 oz of almond slivers- these babies are AWESOME!

Not to mention the batter has the brown sugar as the main sugar- that's my favorite way to go. I like the toffee like quality it adds to the cookies. I want to try it in brownies, or blondies because it's my favorite thing about cookies is brown sugar. The way brown sugar bakes just makes me drool!!!!!

Oh, and then I worked on my pretty "Sleepwalker Socks" over break :) Working on the heel flap currently-

I don't like the way that the flash on my camera alters the look of the yarn. It's very disappointing, but the sock is coming along swimmingly! :)

Surprisingly enough I didn't take ANY pictures of Ms. Pudge, but Mittens got some photos done ;-)

He was kind of sleeping, but he's a cutie nonetheless. Our old man with diabetes- <3

I'll try to keep you all updated on the search of yarn and my Kitchen Sink cookies are going fast! Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather? It's supposedly getting warmer-- haha ;-)

I'm going to be busy back at school working on classes and what not. Until then-

Laundry, Socks & Tea OH MY!

Sunday is my LAUNDRY DAY right now. I didn't realize how much laundry I had until my closet door wouldn't close and I ran out of towels... Hahaha-- yeahhh I waited that long.

Well, I know I haven't posted in a few days but I've been having socks on the brain. It's quite addicting once you finish a pair. Didn't realize at first, but now I know. They're so comfy, they're for yourself, and if you decide to give a pair, whoever will receive them better love them or else! Hahaha-

I wasn't sure if I had the right gauge for these *Sleepwalker Socks*, but I do =)

They are coming along just SWIMMINGLY!! But I get the same questions over and over again, "Oh are you making baby booties?" "Those are so small, what are they for?" . People. I am making a sock. Yes, they start off small, but eventually they will fit my feet. I can see you questioning that as well- "Are you sure they'll fit you?" I really want to answer no. No, they're not going to fit me, I'm making them for laughs, or to hang on my wall. Why would I wear them? They might fall apart. PEOPLE LISTEN! We knitters knit to enjoy the knitted things we make. We also give them away to let others know we love them enough to give these knitted items away. We love yarn, we wouldn't knit it wrong {and if we do, we frog, be sad and redo}.

That was my little rant for the crazies that are wondering all these things... Ugh--

BUT I am also trying to knit my Steelers Socks. I want to do them toe-up (might have mentioned this before), and this is the attempt I am doing.

I want to be able to use all the yarn so that these will be comfy cozy and VERY warm. I'm not sure if I should continue following this video that teaches me a toe-up previsional cast-on but then I have patterns in my book that could also work. I also need more needles because splitting 5 needles up between 2 socks isn't working out so well... Haha---

&& then here are my flowers... Aren't they gorgeous. After a week they still look good =) very sweet my friendly man is.

Now I must go back to my tea and laundry. Time to switch it into the dryers :)
Until next time! <3 Carly
