I'll keep you posted on all of those, but yesterday I got my hair cut!!!

My Pudge Babe is still getting used to it I think, but I totally love it! =D

Favorite Movie Quotes to Listen to

"Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid."
~Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

"Boo you whore,"
~Mean Girls

"Yes. Yes, I did it. I killed Yvette. I hated her, so much... it-it- the f - it -flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths. Heaving breath... "
~Clue

"Pardon my French, but Cameron is so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass, in two weeks you'd have a diamond."
"A man with priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine automobile."
~Ferris Bueller's Day Off

"Are you crying? Are you crying? ARE YOU CRYING? There's no crying! THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!"
~A League of Their Own

"Let me tell you something kid; Everybody gets one chance to do something great. Most people never take the chance, either because they're too scared, or they don't recognize it when it spits on their shoes."
~The Sandlot

I know that there are probably more, but these are some of the ones that I'm feeling right now. Movies just make you feel better, just as music does. It's a soothing thing that calms us.

Happy Holidays everyone ;-)

Update to Blog--

I'm redesigning my Blog.

I've decided to do this because my teenage years are coming to an end. My birthday isn't for a few months, but I'm tell you now because I have the time (no classes).

I"ll first explain my reasoning behind the Teen Knit Rock name. I was a teen when I learned how to knit, but I was also in musical theatre and dance. I stuck with the name even after quitting musical theatre and choosing to stay with just dance. My plan of becoming a better dancer was working, but my knitting slowly dwindled. I still would knit from time to time, but mostly dance took over. And of course school, which is what the majority of teenage years are spent doing, schoolwork. Knitting will still be a part of my life, just as dance is something I can never let go of, but the teenage years are coming to an end. I've had a good run with them, and they've been pretty nice, but I'm kind of glad to say good bye.

Turning twenty will be a little scary but I can't wait. I'm looking forward to another little dorm to decorate, or maybe even an apartment. More baking, maybe winning my Pudge Babe back and more schooling of course. I'm actually considering graduate school. Not sure yet, but I'm thinking.

Anyway, redecorating and naming my blog is what I'll be doing over break, or starting now. I just wanted to give anyone who reads this, a heads up-

*DONE!

1st semester of Sophomore year at PPU is COMPLETE! :)

So happy to be done. It was a little torturous to get up at 8am for a final this morning, but I got an Easy A out of the class. My professor e-mailed me back about me asking about another quiz in the class, to tell me and I'M SO SO HAPPY!

Now all I have to do is wait for the freshmen on my floor to GO HOME! && If any of them read this, realize, I can't go home until you do.... :)

Hahaha-- I'm looking forward to my baking once I get home (P.S. I recovered SUPER well after a week of having my wisdom teeth taken out ;-) ). I will so take pictures of all my master pieces.

Until the break and my baking, I decorated my dorm room! It truly is my home away from home. I love it here and love staying downtown. I have a long break to stay at home home and I might be doing some rearranging there.

Well, I'm going to enjoy doing NOTHING for the rest of the day, and then do some CF'n business.

Wisdom Teeth

It was time.

I completely freighted it the entire time building up. I hate going into the doctors and dealing with needles and what not. I just prefer and usually am healthy.

I should've gotten them out earlier when they first told me about them but the one line that made me not want it done at all was, "They're impacted and they may or may not effect you later in life." Who wants to get something done if it's never going to effect you? I think it would be a complete waste of money if they hadn't had come up.

Well obviously they did come up and I needed them taken out. The bottom two were impacted and the top two were grown in. They took them all out and it was FAST! Once the anesthesia was put inside me I was out. I remember lifting my back for a pillow but not coming back down. Hahaha--

I iced all day that day, 20 minutes one, 20 minutes off--- some falling asleep with it and what not but mostly ice all day.

Second day I did warm wash clothes. Not as much as the ice, but still often enough.

Third day I just took more IBUPROFEN.

I'm now waiting to take the next dosage and totally wanting real food. COMPLETELY killing me that I can't eat real food right now. I want a bow of cereal or spaghetti without complications!

I know it's going to get easier but I just love food too much.

Back to movie watching--

Keep you posted!

Baking Goods & It's Greek ;-)

I've made so many baked goods but there are certain ones I really want to make now.

I just recently enjoyed the Holy Cross Greek Food Fest and since I am Greek I LOVE IT ALL!!!

The desserts though, I totally want to master these. My favorite cookies, the KOULOURAKIA's, oh they are soo good! But then there are the special ones like BAKLAVA and this other one I can't think of at the moment-- it had nuts and honey and it was so good!

FOUND IT! Karidopita--- so so so so good.

I am Greek, as I said, and I should have learned this from a relative but my Greek side is not the close side. I will have to venture these lovely recipes on my own.

Stay tuned!

Craving for Knitting & Baking

So I really want to knit because I still have two more full months of summer to do stuff and I want it to be a wool Christmas. Haha-- but it's summer and I keep promising all these people baked goods!

Knitting--

I have to finish my leg warmers. They are almost done and once they are I can move on and finally learn how to cable. Hopefully....

Baking---

Think I'm going to make some cupcakes today. This recipe I want to make is super summer cute. You bake cupcakes in ice cream cones! Isn't that cute? Then ice them just so they look like ice cream! I'm super excited and so want to make these.

Well, I take pictures when it all happens and keep ya posted on the list for Christmas knits-- any thoughts and ideas appreciated! :)

Busy & Baking

You'd think that I'd have more free time now that it is summer, and I will admit that I've had a little more lounging time but when the internet is downstairs you find other things to do. Haha- I've been trying to clean out my room, the SPRING CLEAN sweep and instead of finishing that I've decided to buy books on clearance at Borders and bake 2-3 times a week.

The first item that was stirred up was choc full of chocolate chip cookies and these were VERY chocolate filled cookies. Basically the only thing holding these chocolate chips together was a little bit of dough. I thought they were a little dry but everyone said they were fine. Next on the list was Banana Oatmeal Chocolate chip cookies and these were SO moist. SO good and probably the best if a little bit chilled.

Now my mom was enjoying all these goodies but not the dishes, so I figured I should make the recipe that she wanted to try, Cinnamon Shortbread. I didn't think they were that special but made it for her anyway. Oh my was it good.

My most popular treat was the white chocolate chip coffee toffee bars. They are like blondies and everyone just LOVES them. Baked them late one night and my mom stayed up until they were all done.

Also managed to make double chocolate chip mini cupcakes/ muffins. Covered them with powered sugar and boy were they just delicious with a glass of milk.

ANYWAY- my latest treat has been kitchen sink cookies. They had 3 cups of chocolate chips, 1 cup of pecans, cup of walnuts, cup of almonds and boy are they awesome warm and in a glass of milk! hehe

GUNNA TRY to keep you posted on the baked goods and summer schedule.

HOPEFULLY BEACH IS IN THE NEW FUTURE!!!

pics of baked goods and pudge until next time ;-)

School Swing

Getting back into the swing of things at school always bugs me. I was doing just fine before we left why did we have to go and mess it up with a break that wasn't nearly long enough to enjoy the sun that has decided to come out this week instead of last.

My dance is all off wack and I so need to stretch more.

I hate trying to get all focused again. It's hard and I'd rather enjoy doing something else- haha.

I'm whining, I completely realize that, but with two mid-terms, a paper and just being loaded with homework all over again as a welcome back is not what I planned on.

GOOD NEWS

1. I got my mittens! :) :)

2. My bestest friend in the WHOLE world who just HAD to move to Michigan during our senior year.... IS COMING TO VISIT!!!! :) :)
Haha--

Well, I gotta get back to my LOVELY assignments... Paper and studying. Just wanted to make sure everyone was updated! More to come this weekend, I'm sure.

Spring Break Shopping :)

Oh how I enjoy a shopping day. I went to South Hills Village, Robinson, Borders-- I had fun. I didn't go that many places, but I definitely went the places I've been wanting to go to.

1st stop, South Hills Village.
Bath & Body Works to get more scent bug goodies. No candles allowed in the dorms, so a SCENT BUG is a really great way to get the BO hallway smell out of your room and keep it fresh :) {They come in a variety of colors now! When I got mine it only came in white... might have to get another- haha ;-) } I also got a free Signature item because I had a special card- oh was I in a Wild Honeysuckle mode :)

Victoria's Secret to get my 3, yes 3 free pairs of undies. Those cards can just build up in your wallet and then someone doesn't want one, oh the amount of free underwear I have in my drawer is awesome. Yay for those free undies cards! :)
Aerie; it's not the same as the one in South Side. I got my free gift and the past free gifts I got were costing money? Weird but ok. Next Thursday I'll go to my usual store :-P

Next stop, BORDERS!
I love Borders and book stores in general. I love to get lost in them and just enjoy all of it! Except I hope you all remember why I don't enjoy Barnes & Noble- They're mean to knitters. :-P Well, if you are one of my family members or close friends, you know me and my card sending, I had to get some more new cards. This time they are pink with pretty silver flowers that flow around the whole front of the card. Haha, I very much enjoy getting my new cards- you'll see them soon! I also got a book that I've really been wanting to read. LA Candy. I've started it, and I'm not sure my take on it quiet yet. I'll give it a few more chapters- it moves very quickly, but I'll keep you posted on my take on it.

The picture doesn't do the cards justice. You'll have to have a birthday or holiday to wait and see them :)

Pit-stop: Stopped at home to enjoy the pasta my mommy made for me. All her work buddies were so excited that I came home for break and that she was finally gunna make good food and bring it in for all of them. Haha-- of course if you know my mother, she LOVES to cook. Now, cooking for just one is a waste the way she cooks, so having me home allows for leftovers. We had bow-tie pasta with asparagus, butter and parmesan. Oh delicious!

Let's take a little drive to, ROBINSON-
DSW was my first stop because I am a girly girl and I love SHOES! I was probably in there for an hour or more. Trying on kick'n heals that would make me 6 foot and just look gorgeous on my feet ;-) hehe. I ended up getting a lovely pair of deep purple ballet fuzzed slippers, some gray blowfish ballet flats and some bearpaw white knit boots. Currently wearing the purple slippers that are SO comfy and already wore the knit boots yesterday. OH- must tell all of you that all my shoes were 40% in the clearance section and I had a $20 off coupon along with a giftcard from long ago that had about $10 on it. I ended up paying like $33. It was awesome, good feeling of getting great shoes for awesome prices! :) <3 shoes

IKEA is a WONDERFUL place. Anyone that wants to redecorate or has to go college chopping, you should DEFINITELY check it out. I am very lucky to be in Pittsburgh, where there is an IKEA. I know my Aunt in Cleveland would love an IKEA closer but no no, you must visit the Burgh to see it :). Though she has been to the IKEA that is in SWEDEN! The original- oh how fun that would be, it was cold there though- not that it's getting warm here or anything. Haha--- oh dear, my Spring Break and it's not even warm out. At least the sun is coming out today!

I start writing my posts one day and finish them the next-- this was started on Thursday, the post says Thursday but I'm publishing it Friday-- Oh dear. Haha, just try and stay with me if I reference to "today" two different times :)

ANYWAY- At IKEA, I found a comforter. FINALLY something to keep me warm at night while I'm home. Every time my mother leaves the house she puts the heat on 60 or 59. Just cold people. I think she forgets I'm home because I am a freeze baby and that is just not enough heat to keep me warm. She does this at night as well, so I'm cold at home. My bed before my IKEA run consisted of a flat sheet and a comforter cover. Which is basically a 2 ply flat sheet to explain it best- haha. So now that I've been to the greatest Sweden store in the Burgh, I have a comforter that is a level 3 of warmth. I slept like a baby last night and my Pudge Babe is so happy that her bed is so fluffy.

The comforter I bought is white and is in the cover that's the blue and white thing. Pudge didn't want me to cover it right away but I think she forgives me ;-)

Before my night was completely over, I got to make a final stop in my day to Bloomin' Yarns. The yarn store that got me really into it and that I miss visiting. But as a college student with my schedule, I think I'll only be able to visit during the summer months. Last night I did get to attend the Knit Night though, and I met a bunch of new knitting ladies. Let's see if I can remember their names.... Mary, Stevie, Melonie, Diane, Dara, Elise, Janet and Viviane. Haha-- I think I might have spelled a few names wrong but YES I remembered all their names :)

I was working on my leg warmers that I haven't picked up in quiet a while but now very into again. I think I forgot about them! Haha-- well here they are as a WIP (Work In Progress)

Oh my pretty baby just doesn't want to get off her new fluffed thrown- haha <3

Can't wait to continue knitting and enjoying my Spring Break, the few days I have left. Today will be spent with boyfriend, so I'll let you all know what we do today later ;-). Until then, ENJOY MY BABY!

GOOD DAY

Waking up to a sore throat isn't the greatest day you would think but oh my how I was wrong!

It didn't start off too too great, but with a sore throat I'm bound to be a little blah- to put it best. I had to finish a paper and turn it in by six and let's just say I'm one of the best procrastinator's and I think I thrive on it. ANYTHING else I'd get done on time, or even early- but something with a definite deadline, oh yeah, last minute.

This all happened Friday by the way-- I'm a little behind, hehe :)

Once I finished my paper, sent it in, I started to remember what the day was, and what I was supposed to find out-- my CF position! I don't know if I mentioned this in here before, but I did the long process of applying to be a CF- which is a Community Facilitator, like an RA- Residential Advisor, for next year. I had to have two letters of recommendation, a current resume, attend a meeting about all of that, along with two workshops an interview and two papers for them. Yeah, I did it all and at 4:45 they sent the e-mail confirming my hard work paid off-- you're currently reading the blog of a CF for the upcoming school year at Point Park University 2010-2011! hahah <3 I'm so excited and I so can't wait!

There are perks to this new job of mine that I shall discuss when the time is right, but all my hard work is not yet done. I have accepted the position and now my training will happen. I have two weeks of training this summer, move in early and then spring training, meaning I come back early from spring break. As my schedule isn't busy enough already, I will be one busy bee next year.

After finding out about my new job for next year :) :) :) I texted some friends and my mother just to inform them- they all praised me and told me I needed to celebrate. I celebrated by watching a movie and doing my nails with one of my friends still here on PPU's spring break.

Once we finished the movie we were hungry and although spring break doesn't technically start until today- the Point Cafe had odd hours Friday. They closed at 6. We were pretty bummed but my friend convinced me to go to R & B's with her- a pizza place just up a block on Smithfield's. I just didn't want to go with it being so cold and my stupid sore throat didn't go away after three cups of tea, but somehow she still convinced me. As we were walking, I got a phone call. I didn't know this number but hey, maybe they're not one of the annoying telemarketers that have gotten a hold of my number :-P.

To my surprise it was NOT one of those icky telemarketers, it was Buca De Beppo! My friend Liz and I, who I was walking with, had applied there back in January and they said they probably would be hiring in March. Oh my goodness, it was an awesome two or three minute phone call. I have an interview for Monday, to be a waitress or hostess and I am so psyched! I already picked out what I'm wearing, thank you to a girl from work for giving me a TON of clothes she doesn't want anymore and somehow I fit into perfectly. The only thing left is to pick a good hair-do.

I'm gunna think of a good one while I go get the rest of my laundry, finally going home tonight--- I think. ;-)

I love the city-

Love Carly <3

hoping to do well!!! :)

BUSY to BREAK

This week I have two Midterms and two papers due. After all that,

SPRING BREAK!!!

Hahaha--- Not that I need one, I'm finally getting back in the groove after the snow break, is there really a need for a spring break to get us further off course?? Oh and get this, the university wants teachers to make up for the classes missed. I thought because PA was in a "State of Emergency" we technically didn't have to make up anything. Plus-- classes were to resume on Thursday but the University said if you couldn't get there safely it wouldn't be held against you----

Now I'm confused. My classes were canceled by the professors on Thursday because it was still too rough for them to leave their houses. My one teacher is just waving by the make-up idea, which I prefer-- another is doing the same because they wanted her to reschedule on Saturday?! No no--- I have class during the week and my weekends are my weekends. I dance every Saturday morning and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one not to show up to a Saturday reschedule class. I just hope my English teacher agrees with the first two and not do anything about the demands of the University. They closed school-- not our fault they made us miss class, it was the snow. End of that story hopefully...

WELL--- on happy note--- OLYMPICS!!! hahah--- Now let me show you a video....

CLICK HERE <----
That's right--- MITTENS!!!

After watching this video on Yahoo! News-- I decided to get a pair.... on EBAY! I lost my first try--- someone out bided me in the last few seconds. The second time, I WON!!! It was a cheaper bid too so that's a PLUS!!! Haha--- My mittens should be arriving soon, and I'll take a picture when they get here :)

Since I really wanted to watch the olympics during my break, and they won't even be on, I'm planning on knitting something over my break. To show pictures of my current workings.... Please hold... HAHAH--- laptop = good time :)

This one I want to incorporate other colors, so it's only the beginning--- I want it to match the fair-isle Harry Potter hat if possible... WIP- :)

This is a very pretty skein of yarn but it was given to me a while back and not sure if I could find another like it....

My ballet teacher-- THAT KNITS TOO! thought of pairing it with just another skein that's variegated in similar weight and what not. I like this idea-- but must do some searching :)

Alright, must do a paper then study for a midterm... :-P dance tonight! <3

I'll be back-- no worries ;-)

3 SNOW DAYS!!!

Snow days are so glorious right now!!! And they just keep on canceling!! :)

BEFORE I explain my snow days in college, I would like to explain what an awesome weekend it was to be snowed in. Being able to just enjoy and relax, plus the ridiculous amounts of snow just made it sweet. Boyfriend and I did get snowed in, but we enjoyed ourselves. We ended up ordering a pizza from Pizza Fiesta. They had a 2 hour wait for delivery and a 20 minute wait for pick up. Haha-- we picked up ;-)

After we came back with the pizza people were baffled. "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!" We simply said, Pizza Fiesta-- along with the wait for both options of getting the pizza. He frantically paced and opened his phone as we went up the elevator to enjoy a movie with our pizza-

Sunday boyfriend decided to stay in the city. The roads were sheets of ice until today so he completely had a reason, but our boss was still a little pissy. Just the attitude he said, well I'm on this road and it's fine. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the city slacked or something-- they just couldn't handle it all! Boyfriend parked in the garage Thursday night and didn't leave until Monday morning and it was only $15. He says it was the best $15 he's ever spent. No scrapping snow off his car or digging it out. Proud moment :)

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!!!! SAINTS WIN!!! <3 that was a good night <3 free food from campus, school closed for monday and an awesome 2nd half! WOOO!!!

Now onto the adventures from the expeditions I took through the snow ;-)

Monday: snow day! Adventure Day 1 through the snow, ice and slush.

My friend Liz and I met at Mocha MaryAnn's for coffee/tea/hot cocoa, whatever it is you fancy and just a morning meeting place. I tried the Hot Cinnamon Spice tea-- so good. All it need was some honey and it was good. Stayed hot a good while too, which was very nice because Monday was colder than today was. We also checked out this sweet little store on my way to deposit an old paycheck--- now when I say little store, I mean it looks little. This store is actually HUGE! It has a first floor and a second floor and each floor has like sub sections that make it even sweeter.

(stuffed animal room---)

The games at the second floor, it just makes you want to buy all of them and go play them! Haha--- the first floor consists of porcelain figures, doll world, Christmas houses for making your own towns, a Valentine's section, cards, Steelers/Penguins sports areas, stuffed animals too!--- all sorts of stuff! Along with the motion detecting dog that rolls around in a wagon and has a laugh that could be in a horror film. . . . more to come with that later.

After the half hour, forty five minute pit stop in the cute little shop, we went to my bank :). Not as cute as the bank down the street from my house (same bank company, just different people). The people at my bank just know me so well and it's really nice. I like that.

SO--- after all that, we went to CVS for family Valentine's cards/gifts, the post office for stamps and mailing off a Christmas/Valentine's Day gift to my Baby Yaya Girl in Michigan--- Catherine--- SORRY iT TOOK SO LONGG!!! Then Subway for lunch and my room for a movie to end the adventure off right.

That night I got to see Dear John with boyfriend Jon-- Hahaha-- YES!!! They're both Jon's. Mine claims he's a Saint--- so funny. We both enjoyed the movie, but I'm thinking the book must be better. The ending of the movie made me pretty upset. But watching it together, we actually enjoyed it. He made corny comments from it the next day and I said "Awe you liked it!" And he replied, "Now I never said that-" oh boys. . .

Tuesday: snow day #2 Adventure Day 2 with proper shoes!!! :)

I went out exploring in the snow for a SECOND DAY with Liz & Addi. Again we met at MaryAnn's and I tried another tea. Red Raspberry-- it didn't turn my teeth or tongue red!! That is so impressive for a Red Raspberry type of tea. They usually stain so easily.

This day was so much more filled with adventure--- We went to the Sprint Store-- fixed a mishap on a bill (THOSE COMPANIES TRY TO EAT PEOPLES WALLETS I SWEAR!) and got it all taken care of. Apparently I went on the internet enough to charge my phone $40 worth and I don't remember ANY of it. Great.

We ventured into the downtown Macy's. It was my first time being in there and it was so cooL! It was like 11 floors high up! At the top floor there is a salon and right before that there are these totally old school escalator's I so should of taken a picture, they looked so neat! Not safe at the moment because not working and a blocked off entrance at the top, but still looked so sweet.

On our way down, we had some fun. . . .

They both want to decorate their apartments with dragons when they're all grow'd up. Haha-- yes, grow'd up.

After our Macy's expedition, we continued into the slushy roads. One woman held her hand up to us and firmly stated- "Wait wait, don't move, don't be splashing me"-- or something along those lines. She really didn't want to be slushed. Which is understandable, but I don't think there is avoiding it at this point.

We ventured to DOZEN after Macy's and got some YUMMY YUMMY cupcakes. Liz and Addi both got Root Beer Float While I got myself an Oreo Overload-- Oh how delicious!

We did stop in the little cute store again to show Addi and she agreed that it was a sweet unknown huge cute little store-- haha. After Dozen's though, we were starting to get hungry and Addi had a favorite place that totally hit the spot!

FRANKTUARY!!!

This place was so adorable. I got a Naked Frank with two Pierogies, and it was delicious!

We throughly enjoyed our FRANKS (insulting to call it a dog according to a poster in there) and decided to finish our day off with painting nails and eating our delicious and lucious cupcakes-

It was a really fun day and if you can be able to get to the link of the video Liz made on facebook, it really sums up a fun day.

<3 Carly

P.s. Totally sleeping in tomorrow-- we plan on doing another adventure-- I'll blog again!!! :) :)

* SNOWED iN *

EVERYTHING was CANCELED today!!!

Woke up at my normal Saturday morning time, to go to Eat'n Park and ballet at DCP. I knew it was snowing. . . I really wanted to go to ballet though. So, my mother thinks snow is the apocalypse. Now it isn't the apocalypse but it was upsetting. Not only was my ballet canceled, my work has been canceled. THE COUNTRY CLUB has been canceled. Now I'm not really saying getting a night off of work is a bad thing, and I don't think I would try driving in the streets--- wait for pictures --- but I only get one night a week now. This is no fun. The Point Cafe was closed today-- food only in the cafeteria and that's not good food. . . And I ran out of milk. I don't want to agree with my mother that this is the apocalypse but if I can't have cereal in the morning it just might be.

WELL-- I think me and boyfriend, who got snowed in here last night- along with work being canceled for him as well- and we might just go try to have dinner somewhere. We're very sick of staying in my tiny dorm and I TOTALLY want some milk along with maybe a new movie? The library was closed :( I couldn't even return my movies---

Boyfriend now on phone. . . We might have to try to order pizza. I'll keep everyone posted- - Haha-

ENJOY THE PICTURES!!! :)

Yummy Pink Yarn

BECAUSE I started my blog to talk about my knitting, and I really don't want to avoid it-- I want to avoid my reading :-P haha- no no, I READ SOME ENGLISH! :) Hhaha--- back to my point- I want some help on my Yummy Pink Yarn purchase. I posted the link to my newly updated Raverly, but I'll post pictures here as well.

This yarn was a SALE purchase which makes it an even prouder purchase... But I don't want it to be a pretty skein I never use...

I need some knitterly advice on how to go about my project. I'm thinking a nice light spring scarf? Or maybe just pair it with another and do another mistake rib? Other project ideas? I did think of a hat--- any ideas?

DANKA!! <3

My computer doesn't give it much justice of it's gorliourness.. please forgive it--- :)

College Reading and Social Life---

Can both of these exist? This is a question I think everyone is asking about this time into second semester. I'm pretty sure the whole school goes easier on us first semester. It must be something in the water or they're just feeling kind- but first semester was different. Second semester people are meaner and just so strict- might not be the right word, but blunt isn't either. People are just more demanding- that the right word, second semester. They all expect us to read a chapter a class basically. Then there are teachers that say, you better read it twice, to really grasp the concept, you better actively read it the second time.

ARE THEY CRAZY!?!?! I have 5 classes and I'm sorry but I can't read a chapter for Psychology, Accounting and Government Systems all in one night-- I might hurt myself. Not just physically, but probably mentally hurt my brain. I was trying to concentrate in the "Oh so Important Lecture" in government today (a half hour spent on the perks of the President-- He gets all the Coke or Pepsi he wants, along with M&M's and other stuff) but I was blending all my classes together as one. I took this note that made me think of Correlations- what we talked about in Psychology last class, then that related to math- which lead to Accounting and I was trying to find the Residual Value and write a journal entry. ALL IN ONE THOUGHT I DID THIS.. I wanted to slap myself and yell FOCUS!

Times like this I want to watch Jeff Dunham for an hour and just laugh at Achmed. That's not how you spell it though; it's really spelled A-C-some flem-- haha, seriously, just search Jeff Dunham. He's good. Some profanity is said while he is performing... So a PG-13 rating I'll give him... Just in case you need to tell the kids to leave the room-- You'll really want to watch him-- :)
Here's a video with Peanut-- his first guy PEANUT
Here's an Achmed video--- he's funny! ACHMED

BUT BACK TO MY POINT.... ALL my teachers told us that we need to read the chapters. I completely agree, but it's just so much reading! Are you taking five classes that tell you to do the readings along with other projects on the side that actually count for points. I realize I must grasp the subject before doing well on the project, but this chapter is forty pages long and you want a 3 page paper done on outside research. . . . Which one am I going to do first? I think the Research because that's points. See this is where they just screw ya and make you feel like crap. This is how they all said that we should be reading:

Accounting teacher: You know you guys really need to be reading the chapters. I know they're long and probably boring, but they're really going to help you on the test. If you don't read you're not going to do well on the test. (This teacher doesn't teach. I had her last semester and we correct her a lot of the time. Yet she still tells us we don't know what we're doing. I don't like learning from the teacher reading a powerpoint.... She didn't do that last semester :( )
Psychology teacher: Now whoever read chapter two please enlighten us. . . . silence . . . You guys really have to read the chapters, in fact we're not going to do this part of the chapter in class because it goes too much in depth so do that on your own (20 pages of a part in the chapter that's important and will be tested. I'll read it, but honestly-- really? Fine..... I like this teacher, so I'll give him the ok.)
Government teacher: You guys have to take notes during my lectures and really read the chapters. If you don't read the chapters you'll fail. (This guy is sometimes interesting.. but we usually spend the first half hour to an hour discussing nonsense... The chapters in the book are so dry, so long and oh I could fall asleep just talking about the yawn these books give you)

I'll complain about tomorrows teachers telling us to read tomorrow, I'm sure. I just want to know if this is how it was for everyone else??! Is this how our teachers teachers handled their homework and learning of the subject-- or teaching of the subject. I feel like we have to self teach and I don't remember signing up for that. Might as well tell us to stay in our dorm, read the whole book and take an exam. Then do some outside projects with research and we'll grade you from there. All this class time on lectures is cutting into my reading your textbook time. Oh, and forget about fun. That's gone-- you better read a chapter again so you'll be ready for whatever the lecture will be about.

Am I ranting... I apologize, I don't think I should be in lecture classes. I enjoyed them the first two weeks, now I don't think I know what is going on...

To be continued. . .

ON TO HAPPY NEWS!!!
I went to the PENS GAME Monday night. Pens v. Sabers--- 5-4 and Sydney Crosby got a Hat TRiCK!!!!

Oh it was wonderful--- my favorite picture of the night--

Me and Boyfriend <3

Alright-- he is a quiet guy, and for those of you that know me--- I'm not. Hahaha-- I was SCREAMING at this event, I mean come on- IT'S HOCKEY!!!! The guy next to me was covering his ears when I would participate with the "Crowd getting LOUDER"
signs on the Jumbo Tron. =) But boyfriend just wouldn't scream- I tried to get him to, but apparently just likes to observe... Funny-- I like to INVOLVE myself-- Hahaha-

Anyway-- funny story after the game... We lost the car. I go to school downtown and I should know this city, but you have to get lost a few times, just before you know your way around. This is how my mom explained it to me and I'll stick with that. But we really lost the car. I don't know if you looked at the temperature that night, but it was cold. We went to the wrong parking garage right after the game... Walked onto the right floor-- 3, but couldn't find 3e and the colors were different, same with the layout... So we decided to go down the elevator to floor one and walk around to find the real parking garage.. I have a feeling some people are laughing at me right now- go ahead, we totally went over how we walked to the arena a certain way--- this was funny. We probably searched for it for a half hour... We finally found the car-- got out of the garage and we got free parking!!!! Hahaha-- the plus to getting lost :)

Well, I think my floor is having a meeting then I might have to read a chapter in a book or two :-P

I'll post again though, don't worry!--- This is a good break from all that reading ;-)

Class Canceled

~Last night my English teacher sent an e-mail announcing that class was canceled due to him being ill.
~My Business Law teacher put an announcement on Blackboard last night around ten and an e-mail out at six thirty telling us class was canceled.

I got both of the announcements last night and I was so excited to sleep in! :) haha--- So I slept in to about ten thirty this morning and after my cereal I wanted to get my shower in. Well, let me just say one thing about our showers... They're community showers. They were freezing first semester and although they've been warmer second semester, I still have to shower with shoes on everyday. I have been shocked today though. Our favorite shower, out of three, has been clogged for about a month... They finally put a sign on it and said don't use it, not draining properly, but we didn't know when they would fix it. This morning they pulled a big long clump out of the drain-- it was hair. All hair. We're slobs and don't clean our showers apparently. Another thing I noticed after coming back from lunch--- they fixed a light bulb!!! This light bulb has been out since the first or second week of school. The just decided to fix it.... Crazy how if someone can't shower they all of a sudden care.

Well, back to my shower this morning... It was cold. Freezing in fact. I was so mad. All the showers I've been taking have been warm and not killing me. Now today just wasn't great. I've been taking crappy showers since the favorite one went out of service. Water won't hit me when I stand under the shower head and cold. Well the water was better, shooting in the proper way today, but it was so cold honestly no warmth at all. I was praying someone would go to the bathroom to just flush a toilet so the water would be warm for a split second. They never came though :(

After my shower I got ready for my day.. Being lazy right now-- haha

I actually have to start getting ready for ballet already!

Well, besides my shower story, I wanted to share a new dorm recipe.

Banana, Peanut Butter and M&Ms

Take a banana-- cut in half, then in half long-ways. Spread peanut butter on flat part. Decorate with as many M&M's as you want-
ENJOY!!!!

Ballet, Pointe, Rehearsal, Workshop for a job && then dinner with boyfriend ;-)

Post for Video && Music must--

So I don't know why the video for the inmates didn't post--- HERE IT IS AGAIN... I HOPE!

AND while I am in my room getting ready for dance or wherever my next stop of the day is, I really like listening to the soundtrack from P.S. I Love You. It's soothing and if you've ever seen the movie- quite enjoyable.

Well, I got to get ready for ballet!

Really--- I'm trying to make a habit of this!!! :)

Haha--- another picture? but of course--

I went to a concert at the Hard Rock on a Sunday night with some girls from my floor and on our way back we decided to take a fun picture ;-)

<3 Carly

Where have I been?

Well--- that's a good question isn't it..

I'M DOWNTOWN!!! Living in Thayer Hall at Point Park University
~~~~check it out~~~ check it out~~
But what I've been up to is dancing. Yes who would of thought I'd keep on dancing? Haha-- but as a Business Finance & Economics major, you really wouldn't think I'd have the time. This explains my lack of blogging... And other lazy reasons beyond me that bothers me of my non-blogging issues.
Ok-- I get distracted so easily, I'm gunna say that right now. I'm supposed to be doing my Accounting homework, and I usually check out my e-mail first, which is with Yahoo! So I just did, and had to click on the peace news first. Well, these Filipino inmates must love love LOVE Michael Jackson--- they did a choreographed piece by him... Please check this out you probably won't regret it.... ~~~~~~~
Alright-- Since I'm throughly off task of homework, I think I should post some pictures :)
My new man and I went ice skating and had fun with all the holiday things downtown--- here's a picture of us before ice skating.
Notice the beautifully knit hat... from a while ago, but still!!! He was borrowing it and it does look good, no? Hahaha--
Confession.. Knitting has taken a back seat at school. Although I did finish a scarf during first semester, there hasn't been much knitting while I'm in school. I'm very busy and I want to make more time for it. I even wanted to start a knitting club, but had no idea how much I already had myself involved with--- It's time consuming being in college. Haha--
Well, I'm trying to bring back a modern class and to do this I must meet with one of my girls- haha-- I'm really going to try to do this more often. I have much more to talk about.
I'm going to finish my hot chocolate now, then go off to lunch-- talk to you later!!! I really will come back and type!!! With pictures!
