GOOD DAY

Waking up to a sore throat isn't the greatest day you would think but oh my how I was wrong!

It didn't start off too too great, but with a sore throat I'm bound to be a little blah- to put it best. I had to finish a paper and turn it in by six and let's just say I'm one of the best procrastinator's and I think I thrive on it. ANYTHING else I'd get done on time, or even early- but something with a definite deadline, oh yeah, last minute.

This all happened Friday by the way-- I'm a little behind, hehe :)

Once I finished my paper, sent it in, I started to remember what the day was, and what I was supposed to find out-- my CF position! I don't know if I mentioned this in here before, but I did the long process of applying to be a CF- which is a Community Facilitator, like an RA- Residential Advisor, for next year. I had to have two letters of recommendation, a current resume, attend a meeting about all of that, along with two workshops an interview and two papers for them. Yeah, I did it all and at 4:45 they sent the e-mail confirming my hard work paid off-- you're currently reading the blog of a CF for the upcoming school year at Point Park University 2010-2011! hahah <3 I'm so excited and I so can't wait!

There are perks to this new job of mine that I shall discuss when the time is right, but all my hard work is not yet done. I have accepted the position and now my training will happen. I have two weeks of training this summer, move in early and then spring training, meaning I come back early from spring break. As my schedule isn't busy enough already, I will be one busy bee next year.

After finding out about my new job for next year :) :) :) I texted some friends and my mother just to inform them- they all praised me and told me I needed to celebrate. I celebrated by watching a movie and doing my nails with one of my friends still here on PPU's spring break.

Once we finished the movie we were hungry and although spring break doesn't technically start until today- the Point Cafe had odd hours Friday. They closed at 6. We were pretty bummed but my friend convinced me to go to R & B's with her- a pizza place just up a block on Smithfield's. I just didn't want to go with it being so cold and my stupid sore throat didn't go away after three cups of tea, but somehow she still convinced me. As we were walking, I got a phone call. I didn't know this number but hey, maybe they're not one of the annoying telemarketers that have gotten a hold of my number :-P.

To my surprise it was NOT one of those icky telemarketers, it was Buca De Beppo! My friend Liz and I, who I was walking with, had applied there back in January and they said they probably would be hiring in March. Oh my goodness, it was an awesome two or three minute phone call. I have an interview for Monday, to be a waitress or hostess and I am so psyched! I already picked out what I'm wearing, thank you to a girl from work for giving me a TON of clothes she doesn't want anymore and somehow I fit into perfectly. The only thing left is to pick a good hair-do.

I'm gunna think of a good one while I go get the rest of my laundry, finally going home tonight--- I think. ;-)

I love the city-

Love Carly <3

hoping to do well!!! :)

BUSY to BREAK

This week I have two Midterms and two papers due. After all that,

SPRING BREAK!!!

Hahaha--- Not that I need one, I'm finally getting back in the groove after the snow break, is there really a need for a spring break to get us further off course?? Oh and get this, the university wants teachers to make up for the classes missed. I thought because PA was in a "State of Emergency" we technically didn't have to make up anything. Plus-- classes were to resume on Thursday but the University said if you couldn't get there safely it wouldn't be held against you----

Now I'm confused. My classes were canceled by the professors on Thursday because it was still too rough for them to leave their houses. My one teacher is just waving by the make-up idea, which I prefer-- another is doing the same because they wanted her to reschedule on Saturday?! No no--- I have class during the week and my weekends are my weekends. I dance every Saturday morning and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one not to show up to a Saturday reschedule class. I just hope my English teacher agrees with the first two and not do anything about the demands of the University. They closed school-- not our fault they made us miss class, it was the snow. End of that story hopefully...

WELL--- on happy note--- OLYMPICS!!! hahah--- Now let me show you a video....

That's right--- MITTENS!!!

After watching this video on Yahoo! News-- I decided to get a pair.... on EBAY! I lost my first try--- someone out bided me in the last few seconds. The second time, I WON!!! It was a cheaper bid too so that's a PLUS!!! Haha--- My mittens should be arriving soon, and I'll take a picture when they get here :)

Since I really wanted to watch the olympics during my break, and they won't even be on, I'm planning on knitting something over my break. To show pictures of my current workings.... Please hold... HAHAH--- laptop = good time :)

This one I want to incorporate other colors, so it's only the beginning--- I want it to match the fair-isle Harry Potter hat if possible... WIP- :)

This is a very pretty skein of yarn but it was given to me a while back and not sure if I could find another like it....

My ballet teacher-- THAT KNITS TOO! thought of pairing it with just another skein that's variegated in similar weight and what not. I like this idea-- but must do some searching :)

Alright, must do a paper then study for a midterm... :-P dance tonight! <3

I'll be back-- no worries ;-)

3 SNOW DAYS!!!

Snow days are so glorious right now!!! And they just keep on canceling!! :)

BEFORE I explain my snow days in college, I would like to explain what an awesome weekend it was to be snowed in. Being able to just enjoy and relax, plus the ridiculous amounts of snow just made it sweet. Boyfriend and I did get snowed in, but we enjoyed ourselves. We ended up ordering a pizza from Pizza Fiesta. They had a 2 hour wait for delivery and a 20 minute wait for pick up. Haha-- we picked up ;-)

After we came back with the pizza people were baffled. "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!" We simply said, Pizza Fiesta-- along with the wait for both options of getting the pizza. He frantically paced and opened his phone as we went up the elevator to enjoy a movie with our pizza-

Sunday boyfriend decided to stay in the city. The roads were sheets of ice until today so he completely had a reason, but our boss was still a little pissy. Just the attitude he said, well I'm on this road and it's fine. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the city slacked or something-- they just couldn't handle it all! Boyfriend parked in the garage Thursday night and didn't leave until Monday morning and it was only $15. He says it was the best $15 he's ever spent. No scrapping snow off his car or digging it out. Proud moment :)

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!!!! SAINTS WIN!!! <3 that was a good night <3 free food from campus, school closed for monday and an awesome 2nd half! WOOO!!!

Now onto the adventures from the expeditions I took through the snow ;-)

Monday: snow day! Adventure Day 1 through the snow, ice and slush.

My friend Liz and I met at Mocha MaryAnn's for coffee/tea/hot cocoa, whatever it is you fancy and just a morning meeting place. I tried the Hot Cinnamon Spice tea-- so good. All it need was some honey and it was good. Stayed hot a good while too, which was very nice because Monday was colder than today was. We also checked out this sweet little store on my way to deposit an old paycheck--- now when I say little store, I mean it looks little. This store is actually HUGE! It has a first floor and a second floor and each floor has like sub sections that make it even sweeter.

(stuffed animal room---)

The games at the second floor, it just makes you want to buy all of them and go play them! Haha--- the first floor consists of porcelain figures, doll world, Christmas houses for making your own towns, a Valentine's section, cards, Steelers/Penguins sports areas, stuffed animals too!--- all sorts of stuff! Along with the motion detecting dog that rolls around in a wagon and has a laugh that could be in a horror film. . . . more to come with that later.

After the half hour, forty five minute pit stop in the cute little shop, we went to my bank :). Not as cute as the bank down the street from my house (same bank company, just different people). The people at my bank just know me so well and it's really nice. I like that.

SO--- after all that, we went to CVS for family Valentine's cards/gifts, the post office for stamps and mailing off a Christmas/Valentine's Day gift to my Baby Yaya Girl in Michigan--- Catherine--- SORRY iT TOOK SO LONGG!!! Then Subway for lunch and my room for a movie to end the adventure off right.

That night I got to see Dear John with boyfriend Jon-- Hahaha-- YES!!! They're both Jon's. Mine claims he's a Saint--- so funny. We both enjoyed the movie, but I'm thinking the book must be better. The ending of the movie made me pretty upset. But watching it together, we actually enjoyed it. He made corny comments from it the next day and I said "Awe you liked it!" And he replied, "Now I never said that-" oh boys. . .

Tuesday: snow day #2 Adventure Day 2 with proper shoes!!! :)

I went out exploring in the snow for a SECOND DAY with Liz & Addi. Again we met at MaryAnn's and I tried another tea. Red Raspberry-- it didn't turn my teeth or tongue red!! That is so impressive for a Red Raspberry type of tea. They usually stain so easily.

This day was so much more filled with adventure--- We went to the Sprint Store-- fixed a mishap on a bill (THOSE COMPANIES TRY TO EAT PEOPLES WALLETS I SWEAR!) and got it all taken care of. Apparently I went on the internet enough to charge my phone $40 worth and I don't remember ANY of it. Great.

We ventured into the downtown Macy's. It was my first time being in there and it was so cooL! It was like 11 floors high up! At the top floor there is a salon and right before that there are these totally old school escalator's I so should of taken a picture, they looked so neat! Not safe at the moment because not working and a blocked off entrance at the top, but still looked so sweet.

On our way down, we had some fun. . . .

They both want to decorate their apartments with dragons when they're all grow'd up. Haha-- yes, grow'd up.

After our Macy's expedition, we continued into the slushy roads. One woman held her hand up to us and firmly stated- "Wait wait, don't move, don't be splashing me"-- or something along those lines. She really didn't want to be slushed. Which is understandable, but I don't think there is avoiding it at this point.

We ventured to DOZEN after Macy's and got some YUMMY YUMMY cupcakes. Liz and Addi both got Root Beer Float While I got myself an Oreo Overload-- Oh how delicious!

We did stop in the little cute store again to show Addi and she agreed that it was a sweet unknown huge cute little store-- haha. After Dozen's though, we were starting to get hungry and Addi had a favorite place that totally hit the spot!

FRANKTUARY!!!

This place was so adorable. I got a Naked Frank with two Pierogies, and it was delicious!

We throughly enjoyed our FRANKS (insulting to call it a dog according to a poster in there) and decided to finish our day off with painting nails and eating our delicious and lucious cupcakes-

It was a really fun day and if you can be able to get to the link of the video Liz made on facebook, it really sums up a fun day.

P.s. Totally sleeping in tomorrow-- we plan on doing another adventure-- I'll blog again!!! :) :)

* SNOWED iN *

EVERYTHING was CANCELED today!!!

Woke up at my normal Saturday morning time, to go to Eat'n Park and ballet at DCP. I knew it was snowing. . . I really wanted to go to ballet though. So, my mother thinks snow is the apocalypse. Now it isn't the apocalypse but it was upsetting. Not only was my ballet canceled, my work has been canceled. THE COUNTRY CLUB has been canceled. Now I'm not really saying getting a night off of work is a bad thing, and I don't think I would try driving in the streets--- wait for pictures --- but I only get one night a week now. This is no fun. The Point Cafe was closed today-- food only in the cafeteria and that's not good food. . . And I ran out of milk. I don't want to agree with my mother that this is the apocalypse but if I can't have cereal in the morning it just might be.

WELL-- I think me and boyfriend, who got snowed in here last night- along with work being canceled for him as well- and we might just go try to have dinner somewhere. We're very sick of staying in my tiny dorm and I TOTALLY want some milk along with maybe a new movie? The library was closed :( I couldn't even return my movies---

Boyfriend now on phone. . . We might have to try to order pizza. I'll keep everyone posted- - Haha-

ENJOY THE PICTURES!!! :)

Yummy Pink Yarn

BECAUSE I started my blog to talk about my knitting, and I really don't want to avoid it-- I want to avoid my reading :-P haha- no no, I READ SOME ENGLISH! :) Hhaha--- back to my point- I want some help on my Yummy Pink Yarn purchase. I posted the link to my newly updated Raverly, but I'll post pictures here as well.

This yarn was a SALE purchase which makes it an even prouder purchase... But I don't want it to be a pretty skein I never use...

I need some knitterly advice on how to go about my project. I'm thinking a nice light spring scarf? Or maybe just pair it with another and do another mistake rib? Other project ideas? I did think of a hat--- any ideas?

DANKA!! <3

My computer doesn't give it much justice of it's gorliourness.. please forgive it--- :)

College Reading and Social Life---

Can both of these exist? This is a question I think everyone is asking about this time into second semester. I'm pretty sure the whole school goes easier on us first semester. It must be something in the water or they're just feeling kind- but first semester was different. Second semester people are meaner and just so strict- might not be the right word, but blunt isn't either. People are just more demanding- that the right word, second semester. They all expect us to read a chapter a class basically. Then there are teachers that say, you better read it twice, to really grasp the concept, you better actively read it the second time.

ARE THEY CRAZY!?!?! I have 5 classes and I'm sorry but I can't read a chapter for Psychology, Accounting and Government Systems all in one night-- I might hurt myself. Not just physically, but probably mentally hurt my brain. I was trying to concentrate in the "Oh so Important Lecture" in government today (a half hour spent on the perks of the President-- He gets all the Coke or Pepsi he wants, along with M&M's and other stuff) but I was blending all my classes together as one. I took this note that made me think of Correlations- what we talked about in Psychology last class, then that related to math- which lead to Accounting and I was trying to find the Residual Value and write a journal entry. ALL IN ONE THOUGHT I DID THIS.. I wanted to slap myself and yell FOCUS!

Times like this I want to watch Jeff Dunham for an hour and just laugh at Achmed. That's not how you spell it though; it's really spelled A-C-some flem-- haha, seriously, just search Jeff Dunham. He's good. Some profanity is said while he is performing... So a PG-13 rating I'll give him... Just in case you need to tell the kids to leave the room-- You'll really want to watch him-- :)
Here's a video with Peanut-- his first guy PEANUT
Here's an Achmed video--- he's funny! ACHMED

BUT BACK TO MY POINT.... ALL my teachers told us that we need to read the chapters. I completely agree, but it's just so much reading! Are you taking five classes that tell you to do the readings along with other projects on the side that actually count for points. I realize I must grasp the subject before doing well on the project, but this chapter is forty pages long and you want a 3 page paper done on outside research. . . . Which one am I going to do first? I think the Research because that's points. See this is where they just screw ya and make you feel like crap. This is how they all said that we should be reading:

Accounting teacher: You know you guys really need to be reading the chapters. I know they're long and probably boring, but they're really going to help you on the test. If you don't read you're not going to do well on the test. (This teacher doesn't teach. I had her last semester and we correct her a lot of the time. Yet she still tells us we don't know what we're doing. I don't like learning from the teacher reading a powerpoint.... She didn't do that last semester :( )
Psychology teacher: Now whoever read chapter two please enlighten us. . . . silence . . . You guys really have to read the chapters, in fact we're not going to do this part of the chapter in class because it goes too much in depth so do that on your own (20 pages of a part in the chapter that's important and will be tested. I'll read it, but honestly-- really? Fine..... I like this teacher, so I'll give him the ok.)
Government teacher: You guys have to take notes during my lectures and really read the chapters. If you don't read the chapters you'll fail. (This guy is sometimes interesting.. but we usually spend the first half hour to an hour discussing nonsense... The chapters in the book are so dry, so long and oh I could fall asleep just talking about the yawn these books give you)

I'll complain about tomorrows teachers telling us to read tomorrow, I'm sure. I just want to know if this is how it was for everyone else??! Is this how our teachers teachers handled their homework and learning of the subject-- or teaching of the subject. I feel like we have to self teach and I don't remember signing up for that. Might as well tell us to stay in our dorm, read the whole book and take an exam. Then do some outside projects with research and we'll grade you from there. All this class time on lectures is cutting into my reading your textbook time. Oh, and forget about fun. That's gone-- you better read a chapter again so you'll be ready for whatever the lecture will be about.

Am I ranting... I apologize, I don't think I should be in lecture classes. I enjoyed them the first two weeks, now I don't think I know what is going on...

To be continued. . .

ON TO HAPPY NEWS!!!
I went to the PENS GAME Monday night. Pens v. Sabers--- 5-4 and Sydney Crosby got a Hat TRiCK!!!!

Oh it was wonderful--- my favorite picture of the night--

Me and Boyfriend <3

Alright-- he is a quiet guy, and for those of you that know me--- I'm not. Hahaha-- I was SCREAMING at this event, I mean come on- IT'S HOCKEY!!!! The guy next to me was covering his ears when I would participate with the "Crowd getting LOUDER"
signs on the Jumbo Tron. =) But boyfriend just wouldn't scream- I tried to get him to, but apparently just likes to observe... Funny-- I like to INVOLVE myself-- Hahaha-

Anyway-- funny story after the game... We lost the car. I go to school downtown and I should know this city, but you have to get lost a few times, just before you know your way around. This is how my mom explained it to me and I'll stick with that. But we really lost the car. I don't know if you looked at the temperature that night, but it was cold. We went to the wrong parking garage right after the game... Walked onto the right floor-- 3, but couldn't find 3e and the colors were different, same with the layout... So we decided to go down the elevator to floor one and walk around to find the real parking garage.. I have a feeling some people are laughing at me right now- go ahead, we totally went over how we walked to the arena a certain way--- this was funny. We probably searched for it for a half hour... We finally found the car-- got out of the garage and we got free parking!!!! Hahaha-- the plus to getting lost :)

Well, I think my floor is having a meeting then I might have to read a chapter in a book or two :-P

I'll post again though, don't worry!--- This is a good break from all that reading ;-)
