Summer job time. My days are consumed with work. I must say I am quite spoiled and totally enjoy eating good food at the demos and when softshell crabs are in season I do not complain. It is starting to get humid though and that means the patio is open at work. Polyester uniforms and humidity is not my favorite combo but I enjoy the paycheck.
After work I am tired, but that doesn't keep me away from my friends. Yet again, I go downtown whenever I can =). My friend banana and I are going to make a tshirt blanket. I am so excited to do this. I have so many tshirts, and who doesn't? It's so much better use of the fabric. I wear mostly dresses and have a crazy obsession with rompers (currently wearing one ;-) haha). Tshirts are for events that hand you the shirt to wear for that event. Just my opinion. Haha
Alright, now to my baking =). I made my famous coffee toffee bars, my mom calls them coffee blondies sometimes, and she's already hogging them. I made them right before work and they should've had 10 minutes to cool. I don't think they were out of the oven 5 minutes before she took a knife to them and started eating it. Haha, I'm taking some to work tomorrow and the pastry chef already remembers them and she's told others, "Oh, you'll like them." I love having people enjoy my baked goods! =)
Tonight I'm going to make my kitchen sink cookies. I'm going to a memorial day thing after work (yeah, we have to work :-P ) and I think these will hit the sweet spot. I just hope no one is allergic to nuts. . . I'll have to post pictures of my finished bar socks and the cookies and bars after I'm done baking.
Until next time,
<3 Carly
Post Grad just enjoying the Pittsburgh life, knitting, cooking, baking, and still sipping tea. Always trying my best ;-)

21 & City Home
Well I didn't do a good job of finishing the countdown on my Blog, but I did a great job on my facebook. I had a friend give me cookies after a night class because he knew the next day was my birthday. I had a countdown of probably a month of facebook. I so enjoyed my birthday week, just couldn't have asked for a better birthday with great friends =).
This is my favorite shot from our shot night. At midnight we went to Tavern 245 and did a little toast.
My wonderful friend Banana made me morning cake the day of my birthday. If any of you have seen The Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood, this is what it is from. The week or two before my birthday my friends and I watched this in my room. They had to know who was throwing my birthday party the weekend of my birthday, haha. Well the mother always made morning cake for her children, but my best friends make it for me. I love my friends.
The next night me and my mother went to Le Mont in Mount Washington. I had delicious sea bass and sipped some wine. Not a huge wine fan I found out, haha.
This is me and half the table of Thursday night, my birthday dinner downtown. We went to Sharp Edge =). There was a really cute waiter with plenty of tattoos that waited on us ;-). I enjoyed a white russian (also known as a caucasian there)
After the dinner at Sharp Edge we went back to school and danced a TON at the Action Sports Club dance "This Party Thing". I was dancing in my birthday shoes and loved every second of it. After we all got tired enough though, we headed back to Banana's and made cake batter martini's. These were pretty strong and I would've enjoyed them a little more chilled. Still they had homemade icing on them and they were delicious.
Friday night was South Side night. We went to a couple different places and this is the night I found out my drink. A washington apple with tequila, as a drink. I must admit the blue drink from Kopy's was probably my favorite, but that was stronger than the tequila. I thank my friend and her man for a wonderful 21st bar crawl.
Saturday night, the last night, was the Yaya Birthday Celebration. Me and my mother finally drinking together. I quite enjoyed champagne. I thought I would though because at my work we've had countless holidays with a champagne jello and I've always enjoyed it.
And now for the City Home part, I have come back home for the summer. Yet I have gone to the city at least twice a week since I've been home. Downtown is home to me now. I can't get enough and I just can't stay away from my friends. I had a wonderful birthday, but I have even better friends =).

Yarn, Flowers, Sun- ONLY 9 DAYS!!!
ORIGINAL date: 3/19/12
Oh my gosh, I have been meaning to blog for days now. I wanted to take a picture of all this yarn my Aunt sent me. But I gave a lot of it away before hand. Let's start off with the story first. I check my mailbox a lot her at school but don't get a lot of mail. I just like to check :) . Anyway, I was checking it Wednesday or Tuesday last week and I had a slip that noted I had a package. When I got the package I was raking my mind trying to remember if I had bought something off line or what. Couldn't remember. I look on the side and it says it's from Turkey? I was very curious now. Once I got to my room I realized it was from my Aunt in Ohio. I open the box thinking, oh it's close to my birthday, probably something for my birthday. No, I got a big box of YARN! Soft sparkly purple yarn. It's gorgeous! Just look!

I love how the sun has made this picture look ten times better, haha. Basically my Aunt had a big project to finish a little bit ago and needed a bunch of zippers. The company messed up some order and sent her all this yarn. She called the company to let them know the mix up and she asked if they needed her to send it back or to the proper recipient. The company told her, "No, just find a good home for the yarn". She thought of me and my Knitting & Crochet Craft Club at school =). <3

Break Over & 16 days
Oh my gosh how time flies!
Honestly though, the entire Spring Break I was doing things. Not homework per-say, but I had fun. That was important to me. I wanted to have fun with my friends, and I definitely did :).
It's actually ridiculous how awesome we think we are. I love it. I can't wait to celebrate my birthday with all these people I have surrounded myself with this year. They are a great group of people I hope to stay in touch with for as long as I can.
7 more weeks of class, then a week of finals, graduation for the seniors and then it is summer (I'll be a senior then! AH!).
That's crazy right?! Just 2 months and it'll all be over. This semester, this set of routines, this way of hanging out, all over.
I need to start taking pictures like mad, but I just laughed so hard when my friend scared the SH!T out of me jumping in front of my door with a bag of peanut butter cookies, my financial calculator and a relax smelling pig (MR.EVIL DR.PORK CHOP). It was great. I seriously love my friends.
We're getting ready to recreate the magic in bed 13 the apartment next year. Stay tuned for my summer projects. Most of them, or more likely all of them will be for the apartment. We have big plans :)
I think I should hit the hay now.
Sleep tight!
16 DAYS!!!

Spring Break & 23 days
Still counting down. ;-)
It's Spring Break though, so let's talk about how it SNOWS* on the first night. Haha, like really? A bunch of my friends are going to Florida, Mexico, anywhere that actually has heat right now. But Pittsburgh just snows* when a break happens. I swear it's colder than it has been in December! My heater is finally starting to sound like a waterfall right now too. That means it will actually blow out heat.
I'm actually here sitting in my dorm downtown in shorts and a sweat shirt. Painted my nails and just bumming around. These colors are so Spring Break though (minus the snow).

The one on the right is *ole caliente* (on my toes) and the one on the left is *cute as a button* (on my fingers) :)
Then here's the scarf I will finish over this break. But actually probably need to get more yarn for. . .

It's a beautiful scarf, but is is dying my needles as you can see.
Then here is me. I wanted to show off my good looking lazy look ;-)

I actually like that the flash takes over the picture. It's symbolic in some form I feel.
Well, I'll keep you posted on the Spring Break shenanigans.

1 month, 1 day
I'm doing a mini countdown until my birthday. The big, 21!
But let's share some lovely things during my procrastination to my studies of the week before Spring Break ;-)
AMC Best Picture Showcase:
Oh my gosh, I forget if I talked about it before, but I am a JUNKIE! MOVIE NERD, JUNKIE, ADDICT, whatever you want to call it, I am hooked to the movies everyone. This is my love. I love tea and knitting, but movies are always something that is happening in my life. They are fabulous.
ANYHOO, the event I went to was down at the Waterfront and we got to go see ALL the Best Picture nominations. It is so great, movies all day long! You feel like such a slug/loaf/lazy ass, but it is so worth it. You see beautiful, inspiring, lovely, great movies. These are the best of the best and you can tell when you watch it on the big screen. Oh my gosh, it was so good.
I'll try to rate the movies how I liked them; top being the best!
Midnight in Paris
War Horse
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
Moneyball
The Help
Hugo
The Desendants
The Artist
The Tree of Life
Midnight in Pairs, it was magical. Sincerely, magical. A beautiful movie that I will own as soon as it comes out on DVD, if it isn't already.
War Horse, oh my gosh was this a movie so well done. The set, the costumes, the knitwear, the mustaches! Even the score was done beautiful, by John Williams of course.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close was fantastic. People may think I have no heart for crying, and that may be true. But I was able to be captured by the movie. The little boy was wonderful in his role and his grandfather I loved even though he never spoke.
Moneyball is a baseball movie. But it has an econ major from Yale that is in it (Jonah Hill's character), then a hunk of a ball player turned GM (Brad Pitt), that bond in such a way in loving baseball, but also the statistics! It's a must see if you are a sports fan of any kind.
The Help, you all know is a great film. I am so proud of Octavia Spencer for winning Best Supporting Actress, her and Viola Davis both should have won. But Meryl took the win for Best Actress from Viola. Oh it was such a good movie though. Emma Stone deserves recognition as well- all of them. Beautiful movie.
HUGO- for some reason I totally thought was animated. It was in 3D when we watched it and it was awesome to have the theatre have snow through it. Honestly enjoyed that 3D film. It was the greatest 3D film I've ever seen. I see why it was Best Picture worthy.
The Descendants, it was a great film, but just not my absolute favorite. Clearly I am more in love with the others, but it was still a wonderful picture.
The Artist, the winner. I so enjoyed it while I was watching it but after comparing, I just realized how much more I love the other films. A silent picture and forcing me to focus is great, but I am already a movie lover. I focus on the film no matter what. I love the movies. I think it brought people back to really focusing on the film.
The Tree of Life- Oh how people have opinions of this film. I put it last because I enjoyed the others more, it was hard to follow and just not my favorite. It was a gorgeous and beautiful film, but just very hard to follow. As a movie junkie and lover, I completely see why it was nominated, but cannot have seen it winning the prize.
I watched the Oscars and I'm a little sad to see The Artist take the big win, but I understand. I just wanted Midnight in Paris to win so bad. Also, I was captured by War Horse- I had no idea that anyone could do a horse montage the way that they were able to.
Now here are some pics of us enjoying our lazy but so much fun AMC Best Picture Saturdays :)

That was the first week, and here's me with my residents from this week :)

Each week we felt so cool ( or at least I did ;-) ) with our "backstage passes" for the event. You are seriously there all day long. It's great. Oh I will continue to do that as long as I can. It's a great movie junkie release :)
Alright, enough procrastinating :-P
Have a great week everyone!

Burn Out
Just one more week until Spring Break. Just one more.
Everyone I've been talking to this week, they just keep telling me the same things that I'm feeling, "I can't keep focus. I'm so tired." I don't know what we've all done, but we're all clearly burned out.
I finished a tie in a day last week, I clearly wasn't tired last week ;-)

It's a power tie. So proud and can't wait to see my friend wearing it. He's a legit knitting supporter. His mother knits, and whenever he wears a sweater or anything made by her, I just go up to him and feel up his lovely knitwear ;-)
Just like last week, my flowers are fading fast. I'm going to have to buy some daisies this weekend so they'll last the full week. My beautiful tulips just aren't cutting it this week, they're gorgeous! They just died quickly.

See they really are great, just so springy and happy :)

I'm excited for this evening of fun with my lovely friend Jordan. We're gunna watch Sex & The City while having our favorite pizza from R&B's; feta, spinach, mushroom and artichoke hearts :) We're sooo living on the edge ;-) hehehe
Stay awake!! Spring break is almost here!!!
